Blackout Tuesday

Blackout Tuesday.

I’m asking myself what does it mean? Is this something important for me to do?

I tapped into my heart and then researched. Let the heart lead, but get your head in the game.

This is what came up after a chat with my team Above: Use this day in whatever way you need to. Rest. Reflect. Listen. Learn. Support. Hold. Be held. Be silent. Or Speak. You know what to do.

It doesn’t sit with my soul to silence you. But encouraging a day to listen. To learn. Research. Donate. Act. Reflect. Sit in the discomfort or move through it. To take a break from the screen and do what you need to do. Or get back on if you’ve been radical self caring. Do what’s in your heart.

Check in: What do you need today? How can you use this time? What are you being encouraged to do or not do? What does this black box mean to you?

I wanted to share what was coming up for me around this. Bc sometimes we need to remind each other “hey you over there trying to figure this all out and asking what’s your part in this... that’s me too, you’re not alone.”

I am going to disconnect for self care today. I’m doing a lot of taking up space and a lot of space holding. Today I’m going to reflect as some pretty core shattering realizations have been coming up as I have been leaning into the hard questions and the discomfort in all of this. I’m holding up the mirror in my own life.

🖤 Blackout Tues was started by two black womxn music executives as an action step for those in the music industry. I encourage you to know and ask what does the black box post symbolize for you? 🖤

“Using the hashtag #TheShowMustBePaused, Thomas and Agyemang called for members of the music industry to “take a beat for an honest reflective, and productive conversation about what actions we need to collectively take to support the black community.”

“The music industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. An industry that has profited predominately from Black Art,” write the pair at www.TheShowMustBePaused.com.

“Our mission is to hold the industry at large, including major corporations + their partners who benefit from the efforts, struggles and success of Black people accountable."

Use the black box if you’re guided, have a blackout day, just know what it means for you.
