With a bit of a health scare - Goodbye August!!!
/Right after making a Facebook post that the month had been weird, that I’ve felt off and not as sparkly this month - it got even weirder.
The left side of my tongue started tingling. I was curious, and thought, that’s strange. It reminded me of what happens when I eat pineapple. (Does that happen to anyone else?) I put the thought away and went back to chasing CG through Target and getting everything but my list (I know I’m not alone there).
After, while walking with Bear and CG, I notice my lips are tingly and feel numb too. Now I’m really confused. Huh? Just on one side of my mouth? I had the second of the weekly injections in my foot the day before (also on the left side) and wondering if maybe an allergic reaction. I didn’t have a reaction the first time (well besides my almost nervous breakdown from fear - but it was fine).
I felt the sensation spreading over my face into the eye area. I realize half of my face was tingling and had a slight numb feeling. My intuition was that it was ok, but my brain couldn’t compute what was happening.
Home alone with my daughter, I really wanted to investigate ASAP. I did a google search, and called the urgent care. I was ready for the nurse to reassure me, water and rest and watch for certain changes. However she said go to the ER now. 💩
By the time I got there, my left eye was blurry and I had a dull headache. My jaw and cheek started feeling it too.
The staff there was incredible and so loving to CG. Got a quick MRI, while CG sat with them taking the images. Thankfully no signs of stroke and the diagnosis was Bell’s Palsy. Which is basically a viral infection that affects the facial nerves and can cause one side of the face to temporarily droop. I was there so early and started steroids right away, it’s already improving. (Bonus: there’s an eye patch involved.)
With that dramatic exit, goodbye August.
The left side of the body is associated with the feminine, receiving. Nerves represent communication and again receptors. And the face is what we show the world. (Louise Hay goodness) So interesting. I’ll be sitting with that and allowing the lessons to present themselves. 🙌🏼
Overall, I’m feeling extremely grateful and happy it’s September!
